Zara Sheikh (Punjabi, Urdu: زارا شیخ; born June 1, 1982 in Lahore, Pakistan) is a famous Pakistani model, actress and singer. She began her career through an ad campaign for Mobilink Jazz, working as a full-time model before making her debut on the cinema-screen.

Sheikh's big break came while working with photography 'genius' Khawar Riaz, who promised to make her the next big thing,[1] and she has since gone on to act in films such as Tere Pyar Mein, Salakhain and Laaj.
In 2003, she branched into singing, playback singing for her film Chalo Ishq Larain and releasing an album with pop-singer, Ali Haider.
Early career
Sheikh made her debut on billboards across Pakistan as the "JaZZ Girl" for one of Pakistan's prominent cellular service providers, Mobilink GSM.[3] The ad campaign was an instant hit, and plummeted Sheikh to television and print ads for the brand.

Sheikh built on the success by appearing in photoshoots in teen and fashion magazines but, initially, was not very successful. Her big break came when fashion photography 'genius' Khawar Riaz spotted her, thinking Sheikh "would be a great platform for him to portray his work."[1] Sheikh was at first hesitant, but Riaz - who told her that he could turn her into the next Amna Haq, Pakistan's gorgeous leading model and Lux lady - was not deterred, and his efforts to persuade her have been described as "a Tom and Jerry chase which lasted for a year and a half and took him all over Lahore, from late night parties to afternoon trips to the shopping malls until eventually he managed to pin down the young lady."[1]
Working with Riaz was "gruelling," but Sheikh now calls her acceptance of his offer "a blessed decision."[1]
AGE
She is not 26!! She was in the video of Gal vi na kare by WET METAL in the early 1990s!!

Personal life
Sheikh was born in Lahore, Pakistan. Her father was in the Central Superior Services of Pakistan which would normally result in a life spent moving all over Pakistan. However, Sheikh was fortunate to have a stable home as her parents were careful not to interrupt her education at any time.

Sheikh was engaged to Pakistani model and television personality, Mikaal Zulfiqar but broke up in late 2008. [15] and frequently travels to Dubai, London, New York and Toronto.[16] She is considered "quite outspoken and down-to-earth," uses the Internet quite frequently, has a liking for juices, and enjoys reading fan mail, watering her plants, and listening to good music in her spare time.[4] She finds her flawless skin her "biggest asset" and has admitted that she is "unbelievably finicky" about it. Correspondingly, she has called her figure her "biggest flaw," saying she wishes she "had more curves."[1]
She came into the spotlight for her smoking habits, regarding which she said, "I know a lot of models start smoking because they want to kill their appetite but with me, I had to with the tensions that were suddenly invading my life and the company I was hanging out with. Films
Sheikh's success as a model resulted in her landing an offer to appear in a music video entitled O Sanam (O, Love!). The video, a hit, introduced Sheikh to the Pakistani cinema.

Sheikh made her cinema screen debut in 2001, through Hassan Askari's Tere Pyar Mein,[3] in which she played the role of an Indian Sikh, who falls in love with a Pakistani banker. The movie received good reviews and country-wide acclaim for "excellent acting," "a tight script," and Sheikh's "fiery presence."[4][7] The movie also completed a successful, year long run in Pakistani cinemas,[7] and swept the annual Film Awards in Lahore, bringing Sheikh her first Best Actress award. This was the first time a newcomer had won the specific award, let alone for their debut film.
In 2002, she appeared alongside one of Lollywood's leading ladies Meera, pop-singer Ali Haider and model-turned-actor Imran Khan in Sajjad Gul's Chalo Ishq Larain (Let's Love).[8] A year later, in 2003, Sheikh again worked alongside Imran Khan - playing the part of a Hindu girl, Ram Khori, who converts to Islam[9] - in the critically acclaimed and well-crafted[10] Laaj, (Honour) a powerful, historical, part-religious tale.
In 2004, Sheikh and Meera worked together once more, in the 150 minute, Shahzad Rafique-directed Salakhain (translated as The Bars), which was screened at the 5th KaraFilm Festival in Karachi.[11]

In 2006, Sheikh played the role of a girl-in-love in the Mubasher Lucman-directed Pehla Pehla Pyar (The First Ever Love), a film partly filmed in Thailand,[12] which saw her working against Pakistani top film star, Resham, and "chocolate hero" Ali Tabish.[13] Speaking of her experience, post-production, Sheikh said, "It's not easy to work with Mubasher. He's motivated by his film a lot and does not believe in any compromises." She also revealed that, at one point, she had worked twenty-eight hours at a stretch, but that "when I saw the result on the screen afterward I was in tears because ... it was clearly worth it."[12]
In 2008, she starred in Javed Raza's Kabhi Pyar Na Karna, taking the lead opposite Lollywood's leading actor, Moammar Rana.
Sheikh's talent, looks and hard work has resulted in her becoming one of Pakistan's top actresses in a short period of time, and she has been called "undoubtedly the most starry of all the stars in Lollywood" and "a valuable asset for [the] film industry."[4]
Sheikh does not work in many movies, releasing only one or two movies every two years, and prefers, instead, to divide her time between modelling, acting, singing and performing in music videos. She remains an actress exclusive for top banners and, at one point, turned down twenty-six films in a row.
Singing
In 2002, Sheikh collaborated with famous, Pakistani pop singer, Ali Haider to playback sing three musical numbers for her movie Chalo Ishq Larain.
Modelling
Sheikh has modelled for a large number of fashion designers, including leading Pakistani designers Deepak Perwani, Nomi Answar and Rizwan Beyg, and her looks have been described as "attractive," "fiery" and "ravishing." An article, focusing on Sheikh, calls her onscreen presence "spectacular":

"One has to admit that Zara Sheikh has talent. With attractive looks and elegant style she can win the hearts of many. Her chemistry with the camera is spectacular."[4]

Sheikh has also worked with Asia-Saail, Selina Warda,[5][6] designer duo, Nickie Nina, and popular brands like Crossroads, Levi's, Lajwanti and Nee Purtial.
Veena Malik

Veena Malik, born Zahida Malik, is a Pakistani actress, comedian and model.

Coming from a conservative Muslim family, Veena has faced great adversity from members of her family, especially her father,[1] on her decision to join show business but has emerged as one of the leading women in the Pakistani television and films with her abilities to mimic others and improvise. Veena has worked as a representative at the World Health Organisation for two years and sponsors a child at the SOS Children's Village, an NGO based in Pakistan working with orphaned children.
Early life
Veena Malik has claimed to be born on 26 February 1978 in Lahore, Pakistan, to a doctor working at an army medical hospital. The family soon settled in Rawalpindi after the child was born. Her grandmother named her Zahida but the parents insisted on keeping Veena as the girl's first name. Her father's busy schedule led her grandmother to become Veena's guardian from the time she was six years old and nurtured her until her teens when she died.

When she grew up, Veena expressed interest in joining films and her grandmother encouraged her. Her father however pondered over his daughter's fate in an industry that was deemed unsuitable for girls in Pakistan and looked down upon by the mostly conservative middle-class, and he initially resisted his daughter's attempts to pursue a career in entertainment. Veena received continuous support from her grandmother however, whose persuasiveness finally enabled her father to allow her to join film and television. People still, some even close to her, scorned her choice of career. In the past she has been known to date Zearak Fareedi who is the urdu poet of Pakistan. According to reliable sources she got married to Pakistani Cricketer Muhammad Asif in London, the wedding took place on May 28, 2009.

Career and hype
Like all people desiring to join the industry in Pakistan, Veena started with the film industry in Lahore, the home of Lollywood, an amalgamation of the city's name with Hollywood. She was to meet the likes of Mukhtar Ahmed and Jarar Rizvi[1][3] in 1999, who landed her a role in the epic Pakistani film Tere Pyar Mein. By the end of the year, she was already being considered for other such projects when she became a part of a growing scandal.

Scandals and controversies
What appeared to be her nude pictures were being circulated on the Internet and became an issue of debate by the end of 2001.[4][3] Veena repeatedly denied the accusations saying she never appeared in any photo shoots of such kind. The controversies were short-lived but boosted Veena's appeal in the industry and soon she was sought out for more roles in other hit films.

In light of these scandalous controversies, Veena was once accused in 2004 of being involved in indecent acts by one of her co-stars. After filming a cross-border venture with Bollywood named Pind Di Kuri, actress Sheeba Butt added, “That is what her real character is like. It is a matter of disrespect for us.” This came after Veena's comments that Sheeba's acting etiquette ‘had tarnished the image of Pakistan by causing a loss’ of 70,000 rupees to the Indian Punjabi producer Iqbal Singh Dhillon[5] for which Veena claims she had to compensate for from her own pocket.[6] The film was the first Indo-Pakistan venture with the largest budget amounting to 70 million rupees
Recent success
Veena has almost always been cast as a supporting actor. It is unclear if she herself stayed clear of the leading roles or was denied them. Industry enthusiasts say that the only genre Veena was good at was 'comedy' and the directors failed to create a leading role around her acting skills. The criticism was taken well with Veena and she began to hone her skills even more in comedy. In 2002, she was called by Prime TV to host a show called Prime Gupshup[9] for them ushering a new direction for her comedic skills and she improvised on the hour-long show occasionally mimicking actors. The show's format was such a great success added with the charisma that she brought with her that Veena received offers from various other channels as well. She was recently cast to host the Geo TV show Hum Sub Umeed Say Hain where she was hailed for her comedic parodies.[10]

In 2007, she graced the red carpet event of the Lux Style Awards and was awarded as being the ‘most stylish celebrity on the carpet’.[8] With the recent hype surrounding her achievements at the LSA, Veena was offered roles after another in various films. Staying away from films which she calls 'formula films' she starred most recently in Mohabbatan Sachiyan, which was considered the best Punjabi film to come out of Lollywood in a long time. This film features Veena in the leading role and has paved her way as a prominent A-list actress in the Pakistani film industry.
Early in 2008, rumours of Veena suffering a heart-attack[11] were revealed to be exaggerations, and she was diagnosed instead with a mildly serious form of tachycardia. In an interview with Kiran and George on their show Kiran Aur George, she described her turmoil during the time of her illness.[2] It has been subsequently reported that she prepared a will as a result of this incident and entrusted it to her sister.[11] Now days she is okay and she started worked again. shehzad rafique cast her in new moviemain jeena tere naal. and she is also doing a comedy programmiss dunya.

Vaneeza Ahmad

Vaneeza Ahmed nicknamed Vinny (Urdu: اہماڈ ضانےےزا; born June 29, 1971) is a Pakistani model and actress.

Vaneeza Ahmad has earned herself a reputation of being the most famous and sought-after[1] female model and celebrity in Pakistan. Initially interested in medicine with a degree in psychology, she joined modelling as a casual hobby only to be become the face of some of the leading brands in Pakistan. She is probably the most photographed model in the country and has done shoots or shows for almost every, if not all, designers in the country. Her unconventional looks proved to charm the nation, as did her leggy form and graceful carriage.
Early life
Vaneeza Ahmad was born in Lahore,Pakistan but later moved to Germany with her parents to study. She was pressured by her parents to get into medicine when she was in high school. She was to return to Pakistan at the age of 18 to study further medicine but her plans were thwarted by a lack of high school physics and she decided to rather attend Kinnaird College in Lahore.[2]

With her interests still inclined towards medicine, she graduated from Kinnaird College with a bachelor's degree in psychology. In her brief stay at the college, she started to model casually.[2] Not much interested in modelling as a career option, she was showered with offers from various fashion designers, some of which were notable in the Pakistani fashion industry[2] including the likes of fashion designer Nilofer Shahid with whom she did her first shoot, and photographer Khawar Riaz. She is a close friend of the makeup duo Athar and Shahzad, as well as designer Umar Sayeed and often speaks favourably about them in the press.
She is quoted as having said (in a talk show on TV) that she does not want any children.
Vaneeza dated former Junoon rock star Ali Azmat for several years, the couple lived together and had a physical relationship for several years before breaking up due to the latter's infidelity. Vaneeza is said to have been considering saying yes to a marriage proposal from Azmat when she discovered his affair. They are still friends. Ali Azmat is notorious to have been involved in multiple physical relationships at a time.
She was later involved with Sheryar Sumar, belonging to the Mohammad Farooq Textile Mills family. During their relationship, the couple came up with the "V9 project", this project focused on designs of fabrics and outfits for trendy young women, and was marketed using Vaneeza as the model, until the couple split. After their breakup, things reportedly went sour between the two, and Vaneeza is no longer a part of the V9 project. She is now said to be involved with another similar project with another textile mill.
Modelling as a career
When Nilofer approached Vaneeza, she was unsure of which career to pursue and settled for fashion modelling. Her initial walks at fashion shows led fashion critics to praise her elegance on the cat-walk. In dealings with corporate heads of the entertainment industry, her business acumen was similarly praised
Vaneeza, the brand
Recently Vaneeza conjured a brand name V9[4] for her range of lawn clothing along with Shehryar Sumar of Muhammad Farooq Mills where the clothes were manufactured.[5] Vaneeza was chosen as the brand ambassador and the branding created a hype among the fashion conscious public. The collection consisted of nine different lawn prints created by designers that included Nomi Ansari, Umar Sayeed and Hassan Sheheryar Yasin.[6] In March 2006, the collection sold-out in a series of exhibitions[4] and since then has acquired great acclaim.

Upon consultation and her inclinations towards superstitious beliefs,[6] Vaneeza changed the brand name in 2008 to ‘V Lawn’ while Sumar carried on the banner for the V9 clothing line.[5] She has now teamed up with more designers including the likes of Mehdi and Maheen along with designers that worked with her on the V9 collection. The new collection is not limited to lawn clothings but also features chiffon, raw silk, and khaadi wear. With her initial exhibitions in Lahore and Islamabad already a success in April 2008, she planned to launch fashion shows to promote her brand under the new name for which she was supported by many Pakistani designers including Deepak Perwani and Sonya Battla[6] for they had lent their support for her previous collection as well.
Acting and acclaim
Over her fifteen year reign in the fashion industry her business etiquette has helped her to survive her chosen career. In a country where women are not expected to be make smart and calculated decisions in business matters of monetary concerns,[5] Vaneeza always stayed with the career for the sake of money.[9] With her peer Iraj Mansoor, Vaneeza is described as having ‘amassed a veritable fortune via straight-shooting endorsement deals and sensible choices’ within a decade and a half.[3]

Vaneeza now divides her time between Europe and Pakistan, on projects from fashion shoots and shows to filming drama serials and television programs.[4] She is currently making her travelogues around the world for cable TV.[10] Ahmad also recently signed on as brand ambassador for Lux's new variant Aqua Sparkle and brand ambassador for Mobilink's premier Indigo.[4]
Ahmad made her acting debut in Jamal Shah's controversial saga Kal and has since acted in Marina Khan's Tum Hi Tau Ho, Janey Anjaney and Tum Say Mil Ker; Armaan; and Talaash. Most famous role to come her way was that of the founder of Pakistan Muhammad Ali Jinnah's daughter Dina Wadia in Jamil Dehlavi's 1998 biopic of the leader titled Jinnah.[10]
On 16 April 2008, Vaneeza Ahmad was selected as one of the Olympic torch bearers when the torch arrived in Islamabad. Sponsored by Samsung, she was one of the few selected celebrities[11][12] to hold the torch in the relay out of the chosen 66.

Personal Quotes
On being cast in Indian films: "I do not feel good expressing extra jubilation over such projects. Artists working in other countries are normal. The world has now become a global village. There should be no boundaries for artists and they should be able perform anywhere."On 'Meera(I)s death threats: "I agree there are restrictions in Pakistan. You can have bold and steamy scenes to a certain limit but nowhere near what happens in Bollywood. The Hindi film industry may be far bolder than its counterpart in Pakistan, but that's no reason to believe Meera's allegations that she received death threats for deciding to act in Nazar (2005). It was all self-created publicity and everybody knows the reason why she did it."

Marriage
Sana married relatively less known film actor Fakhar Imam in a glittering marriage ceremony held in Defence on December 13, 2008.
Trivia
  • Lollywood actress Noor is a first cousin of Sana.
  • Rehana, eldest sister of Sana is also a TV actress

Meera

Mirabai (मीराबाई) (c.1498-c.1547CE) (alternate orthographies: Meera; Mira; Meera Bai) was an aristocratic Hindu mystical singer and devotee of Rajasthan and one of the most significant figures of the Sant tradition of the Vaishnava bhakti movement. Some 12-1300 prayerful songs or bhajans attributed to her are popular throughout India and have been published in several translations worldwide. In the bhakti tradition, they are in passionate praise of Krishna.

Details of her life, which has been the subject of several films, are pieced together from her poetry and stories recounted by her community and are of debatable historical authenticity, particularly those that connect her with the later Tansen. On the other hand, the traditions that make her a disciple of Ravidas who disputed with Rupa Goswami are consonant with the usual account of her life.

Jia Ali

Jia Ali (Urdu: جیاعلی) (with wrong spelling Gia Ali) is a Pakistani model and an actress hailing from a Punjabi Christian family. She is more of a model than an actress. Jia Ali started off at an early age of nineteen when she was discovered while working at a Pakistani salon called Depilex. At a time when very few Pakistani girls chose modelling as a career, Jia made her mark by doing many daring shoots and by sporting daring outfits on the catwalk.
In 1991, Jia Ali bagged Wrangler Jeans commercial and walked the ramp for its fashion show. She was eventually approached by members of "Lollywood", Pakistan's film industry. It was while she was in Islamabad, Nabila noticed Jia Ali and introduced her to Sajjad Gul, a producer, who instantly asigned her for the movie Deewane Tere Pyar Ke.[2] After she made it big with her debut movie, Jia Ali acted in several movies that consolidated her success at the top. But according to herself, she loves modeling more than movies, which is why she is frequently seen shuffling between Lahore and Karachi for her modeling assignments. Her brother, Munna Mushtaq, is a fashion photographer. She has four other brothers.

Pakistan School of Fashion Design

Pakistan School of Fashion Design (PSFD) is a graduate school for fashion design located in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. The school was founded in 1995 and is known as the preeminent fashion school in Pakistan. PSFD was the first institution to offer graduate training in fashion design in Pakistan. It is affiliated with Les Ecoles de la Chambre Syndicale Parisienne in Paris, France.

In 2006, the PSFD and the French Federation for Ready to Wear Women Garments (FFPAPF) decided to formalize cooperation and collaboration for the exchange of knowledge and skills and promotion of business between France and Pakistan's garment industries. The agreement envisages a programme for development of the PSFD into a modern international fashion marketing institute, which could support and prepare Pakistan’s garment industry for the international market. It also creates links between the Pakistan and French garment industries for exchange of information, awareness raising, delegations and seminars.

Areas of fashion

Fashion as social phenomena is common. The rise and fall of fashion has been especially documented and examined in the following fields:
  • Architecture, interior design, and landscape design
  • Arts and crafts
  • Body type, clothing or costume, cosmetics, personal grooming, hairstyle, and personal adornment
  • Dance and music
  • Forms of address, slang, and other forms of speech
  • Economics and spending choices, as studied in behavioral finance
  • Entertainment, games, hobbies, sports, and other pastimes
  • Etiquette
  • Fast fashion
  • Management, management styles and different ways of organizing
  • Politics and media, especially the topics of conversation encouraged by the media
  • Philosophy and religion: although the doctrines of religions and philosophies change very slowly if at all, there can be rapid changes in what areas of a religion or a philosophy are seen as most important and most worth following or studying.
  • Social networks and the diffusion of representations and practices
  • Sociology and the meaning of clothing for identity-building
  • Technology, such as the choice of computer programming techniques
  • Hospitality industry, such as designer uniforms custom made for a hotel, restaurant, casino, resort or club, in order to reflect a property and brand.
Of these fields, costume especially has become so linked in the public eye with the term "fashion" that the more general term "costume" has mostly been relegated to only mean fancy dress or masquerade wear, while the term "fashion" means clothing generally, and the study of it. This linguistic switch is due to the so-called fashion plates which were produced during the Industrial Revolution, showing novel ways to use new textiles. For a broad cross-cultural look at clothing and its place in society, refer to the entries for clothing, costume and fabrics. The remainder of this article deals with clothing fashions in the Western world.[1]

What Is Fashion

Fashion refers to the styles and customs prevalent at a given time. In its most common usage however, "fashion" describes the popular clothing style. Many fashions are popular in many cultures at any given time. Important is the idea that the course of design and fashion will change more rapidly than the culture as a whole. Fashion designers create and produce clothing articles.
The terms "fashionable" and "unfashionable" were employed to describe whether someone or something fits in with the current or even not so current, popular mode of expression. However, more so in the modern era items termed 'not so current' may indeed fit into the term 'Retro.' Retro fashion allows rule shifts, such as 'old is suddenly new,' thus fashionable. The term "fashion" is frequently used in a positive sense, as a synonym for glamour, beauty and style[citation needed]. In this sense, fashions are a sort of communal art, through which a culture examines its notions of beauty and goodness. The term "fashion" is also sometimes used in a negative sense, as a synonym for fads and trends, and materialism.
There exist a number of cities recognized as global fashion centers or fashion capitals. Fashion Weeks are held in these cities where designers exhibit their new clothing collections to audiences. The main four cities are Paris, Milan, New York, and London - these four are renowned for their major influence on global fashion and are headquarters to the greatest fashion companies. Other cities, including Tokyo, Los Angeles, Berlin, Rome, Buenos Aires, Toronto, Hong Kong, Dubai, São Paulo, Sydney, Moscow, and Miami also hold fashion weeks and are better recognized every year.
